About the Artist
Liberating Wood has grown out of a love for taking pieces of wood and releasing the creations hidden within.

My woodworking journey began in 2006, shortly after moving to Birmingham, AL, with my wife and two kids. I built a backyard sandbox with my brother-in-law, the first real project that sparked a deep and lasting passion for working with wood. From crafting a CD cabinet to designing a custom playset for our sloped yard, I learned by doing, gradually sharpening my skills. In 2011, we relocated to Knoxville, TN, where our unfinished basement became the heart of my growing workshop. As I took on more ambitious builds, from a treehouse to furniture for my kids, I expanded my tool collection and capabilities. By 2019, the basement had been transformed into a dedicated woodshop. However, as projects multiplied and client work grew, the space could no longer keep up.
THE GROWTH
In 2023, I took the leap and leased a former gun store to launch a full-scale shop. The renovation took longer than planned, but the result is a spacious, well-equipped workshop, complete with a large CNC machine, ready to support bigger ideas and continued growth.
