I built this project for my son as a Christmas present. He was already going to be getting the wireless charger as a gift and I decided to make a little dock for the charger. The idea is that the dock, in addition to holding the charger, would provide a place to put a wallet, keys, loose change, etc.

I recently needed to make a wooden tray as a gift and ended up making two. They are both made from leftover pieces of walnut from a previous furniture build. They also each have a carving in the bottom of the tray of the outline of the state of Tennessee. I filled the carvings with orange-tinted epoxy and finished the trays with shellac.

Several years ago while hiking, I picked up a branch to use as a walking stick. That was not an unusual thing for me to do. What was unusual was that I kept this particular stick. I really liked it and thought I would one day clean it up and make it into an actual walking stick.

In the late spring/early summer of 2021, I designed and built a tack trunk for my youngest daughter, Megan. A tack trunk is used to hold the gear related to riding horses.

It took a while but back in early December, I finished the upper portion of the built-in cabinet in my basement storage room. This project isn’t anything too spectacular but I am really happy with how it turned out. It looks nice and turns a small alcove into a pretty functional storage space.

This was another 2023 Christmas gift project for one of my kids. In this case, it was for my youngest daughter, Megan, who is a voracious reader. I had been holding on to a nice piece of quarter-sawn African Mahogany just waiting for the right project.

This is the last of the 2023 Christmas gifts for my kids. This one was for my son who is almost 21. He enjoys 3D printing and spends a good bit of time on his computer modeling projects to print. I know how much I enjoy having a footrest at my desk and I thought he would appreciate one.

I am making two side tables and a coffee table for a client using some reclaimed beams that the client provided. The first side table is now complete.

I was waiting to find out from the client what color stain they wanted me to use. He settled on Provincial by Minwax. I used the water-based version so as not to worry about any adhesion problems with the epoxy.

A client supplied me with nine reclaimed beam pieces of various sizes with the goal of making some occasional furniture pieces for a house that he is building. The plan is to end up with two side tables with tops that are approximately 2 feet square and 2 feet tall and a coffee table about 2 feet by 4 feet and 18 inches high. I started last week and this is where I am on the first side table.

In this final phase, I made another side table and a coffee table. The side table is nearly identical to the first one. The coffee table is shorter than the two side tables and the top is larger at roughly 2′ by 4′.

This is the last of the projects I made to be given away as a gift to our friends the Walkers for Christmas 2023. It is a small, shallow wooden tray about 10 inches long and 4 inches wide. It is made from curly maple and has an epoxy inlay in the shape of the state of Tennessee at the bottom. Within the inlay, I left a heart at the location of Farragut, TN which is where the Walkers live.

This project was my son Brennan’s idea. It was built as a birthday gift for his girlfriend. It holds four, 5″ by 5″ 3d-printed lithophanes. The box that holds the lithophanes can rotate on the base. The base has a 40-watt LED bulb that when lit, displays the lithophane photos.

I recently had an interesting project where a client wanted me to modify the headboard and footboard of a bed. She had purchased the bed a number of years ago at a garage sale. She loved the bed and did not want to get rid of it but felt that it need to be modernized a bit in its appearance.

A husband and wife asked me to build two “matching” cabinets for either side of the living room fireplace. I put matching in quotes because the two cabinets could not be identical for a couple of reasons.

I built this cabinet for my shop that includes a downdraft top for sanding. The panels are made by Powertec and were purchased from Amazon. The cabinet underneath has sliding doors and provides storage for sanding supplies. The doors needed to slide because there is an obstruction too close to the front of the cabinet to allow for normal doors.

This was a very quick and simple project to build a closet hook rack. My daughter wrote on her birthday gift wish list that she wanted something to help organize her sweatshirt collection in her closet. I decided that a row of hooks would be just the thing. I have used the store-bought variety several times in the past. They are fine but I felt that one of those would be lacking in a few ways.

I needed a cart for the laptop that controls the CNC machine. I decided it would be a good test project to use the CNC to cut out the parts for the cart.

This client was looking for a custom piece to go in a corner in the eat-in area of their kitchen. They wanted something functional while at the same time bold and striking. This is the resulting piece.

A client brought a tabletop to me that he had been storing in his garage for a few years. It was a couple of inches thick, about 2-½ by 3 feet, and made from walnut and white oak. He wanted legs added to it to use it for a coffee table in front of the fireplace on the covered patio behind his house.

I recently finished and delivered this 30″ by 48″ walnut coffee table. A few months ago, I made a black bookcase for a home office in a nearby lake community. The house was located on Tellico Lake. While delivering the bookcase, I mentioned to the client that I made custom wall hangings with epoxy-filled lakes. She asked if I could do something like that on a table, and this project was born.

The client for whom I made the Cedar & Walnut Bar Top had a follow-up project for me. He had another large piece of cedar that he wanted to use as a shelf on the wall behind the bar. It was about 9 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 to 2-1/2 inches thick with a live edge along one of the long edges

A client brought three pieces of wood to me and asked me to make them into a countertop for a bar at his home. He has a business and one of the things he does in that business is clear land. Several years ago he had acquired some cedar and walnut in the course of his work and that was the source of the wood.
